Orvieto, belongs geographically, historically and touristically to the Tuscia area. The city stands on a tuff rock as the result of the volcanic activity of the Volsinio district, the area around Bolsena Lake. In addition to its origins, Orvieto is linked with the town of Bolsena for the Eucharistic miracle that took place in the Church of Santa Cristina in Bolsena. In 1263 when Pope Urban IV, Knew about the miracle, considering the event of exceptional importance, decided to have the Duomo built in Orvieto and to institute the universal Christian procession of Corpus et Sanguis Domini.

The historic centre is the real jewel of the city, it tells its glorious history thanks to its medieval and Renaissance buildings.

At the end of May takes place the traditional Palio dell'Oca, a square game that had its origin in the 15th century and offers to the visitors an exciting spectacle.
