Archeological Area Poggio Moscini

The archeological area, located in Poggio Moscini, along the Orvietana Street, is just above the Church of SS. Salvatore. It is rich of remains of the ancient Roman Volsinii, which was founded around 264 BC. - following the destruction of Etruscan Volsinii ( by most researchers, located near the present Orvieto) and the related migration of the survivors - and developed until the V century AD.
This area, mainly contains the remains of the Forum, a Basilica (originally civil Basilica), two Houses (the “House of Paintings” and the “House of Nymphaeum) and other public facilities.
Free admission in the area, provided both an internal car park and a public car park in the proximity.
